Project Brief

A Korea-based healthcare technology company is pioneering new approaches in bone age assessment through the use of AI. The company specializes in AI solutions for musculoskeletal health, enhancing diagnostics, treatment effectiveness, and patient care across various conditions. ​ It targets musculoskeletal health throughout the life cycle, addressing growth, aging, and conditions like osteoarthritis and scoliosis. ​ Key areas include child growth analysis, knee osteoarthritis, fracture detection, spinal health, and sarcopenia.

Bone age analysis assesses skeletal maturity, which helps evaluate growth patterns, predict final height, diagnose endocrine and growth disorders, and determine the appropriate timing for treatments like orthopedic surgery.

In sports medicine, bone age assessment helps evaluate a young athlete's biological maturity, aiding in injury prevention, performance prediction, and ensuring fair competition by verifying chronological age. 

The technology to be validated is an AI-enabled analysis of bone age from X-rays designed for use in clinical settings and sports centers.

Overview of the Technology

A web-based AI solution designed for seamless integration across healthcare systems, including PACS for improved workflow efficiency in large hospitals. It analyzes bone age across key regions of interest using a hybrid deep-learning approach that combines the strengths of traditional assessment methods. The technology also provides precise adult height predictions based on the latest growth charts and connects with a patient-facing mobile application for enhanced accessibility and engagement.

Radiologists: At least 5 years' experience as a radiologist conducting bone age analysis from X-rays regularly. Ideally associated with children's hospitals. Based in California, USA.

Pediatric Endocrinologists:

At least 5 years’ experience as a practising pediatric specialist in the US.
